Children’s Museum

October 12, 2010

The other day, we decided to check out the new children’s museum that just opened. My mom had been there before and took my nephew, but this was going to be Hayden and my first trip. I did not really know what to expect and neither did Hayden.

The first place we went was the outside area, and we were met by this huge dinosaur that would move and growl when you walked up to it. Hayden would not go anywhere near it! He was scared of it, especially when it started to move. My mom and I tried our hardest to get him to go check it out, but not even for Grandma would he check it out. After we saw the dinosaur we decided to go check out the little paleontology sandbox they had set up for the kids.

They had these fun hats and brushes that the kids could use to dust off and uncover huge dinosaur bones. Hayden and Hudson were actually more interested in wearing the hats and digging in the sandbox, boys will be boys! Next we decided to go inside and see what else this place had to offer.

These are just a few of the places that we visited while running around the museum. They were both so excited that we did not seem to stay in one place very long. They would just start doing something and seem something else and run over and start that and then see something else. I think you get the picture! It was a matter of chasing them from room to room and trying not to lose them! There were two rooms that the boys seemed to like the best. One was the auto mechanic shop and the other was the music room.

I wish I would have gotten some shots of the music room, but I was having so much fun playing to that I forgot to snap some pictures.

All in all it was a really good time! We only spent two hours there and missed a lot of other rooms, but the boys had a blast and we were all pretty worn out. This is something that I know we will continue to do, since we plan on getting a family membership. Winter can get pretty long in these parts so this will be a wonderful escape and a way to burn off some energy that builds up when you don’t get to go outside for many days in a row!

Ooo, I didn’t know about this place. Sounds like so much fun! (We’ll probably have to avoid the giant moving dinosaur, though!)
